Tan Sri Abu Sahid bin Mohamed, Executive Chairman

Tan Sri Abu Sahid was appointed as Perwaja’s Executive Chairman in 2008.

Besides serving on the Board of Perwaja, Tan Sri Abu Sahid is the Chairman of Kinsteel, Managing Director of Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd, Executive Chairman and major shareholder of Ipmuda Berhad, Group Executive Chairman of Bright Focus Berhad, and an alternative director and major shareholder in Pulai Springs Berhad.

He is also the Honorary President of the Selangor and Federal Territory Engineering and Motor Parts Traders Association. He is a representative of Maju Holdings on the Board of Perwaja.

 

Tan Sri Dato’ Pheng Yin Huah, Managing Director

Tan Sri Dato’ Pheng is a substantial shareholder of Perwaja and was appointed as the Managing Director in 2008.

Tan Sri Dato’ Pheng is primarily responsible for charting out the Group’s long-term business strategy, leveraging off his extensive steel industry knowledge to build Perwaia into an industry leader. He provides the vision and experience to bring the Group forward and is also responsible for overseeing the overall development of the Group.

Tan Sri Dato’ Pheng is also the Managing Director of Kinsteel, Kin Kee Hardware Sdn Bhd, Kin Kee Metal Sdn Bhd, Kin Kee Properties Sdn Bhd and Perniagaan Kin Kee Sdn Bhd. He is a representative of Kinsteel on the Board of Perwaja. He also sits on the board of several other private limited companies.

In addition to the above, Tan Sri Dato’ Pheng is also actively involved in social work.

Tan Sri Mohd Bakri bin Haji Omar, Independent Non-Executive Director

Tan Sri Mohd Bakri bin Haji Omar was appointed as the Independent Non-Executive Director in 2008.

Tan Sri Mohd Bakri has been with the Police Force for more than 30 years and was appointed as Inspector-General of Police in 2003. He is also the Chairman of Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad.

Tan Sri Mohd Bakri holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Malaya and Master of Arts in Political Science from the Ohio University, United States of America. He has also attended the Royal College of Defence Studies in London, United Kingdom.

 

Dato’ Henry Pheng Chin Guan, Chief Executive Officer

Dato’ Henry Pheng was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 2008.

He is responsible for executing the Group’s strategy and plays a pivotal role in developing the Group’s business. In addition, he is responsible for managing the Group’s day-to-day operations.

Graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wollongong, Australia, Dato’ Henry Pheng is a full member of the Certified Practising Accountants Australia and a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Dato’ Pheng was also appointed as an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kinsteel in 1997 and Chief Executive Officer of Perwaja Steel in 2006.

Dato’ Abu Talib bin Mohamed, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Dato’ Abu Talib was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Perwaja in 2008.

Dato’ Abu Talib has extensive knowledge of the steel industry as he was formerly the Director of Operations for Perwaja Steel in Kemaman, prior to joining Maju Holdings as Group Executive Director in 1992.

He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of United Kingdom and also a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He has been the Group Managing Director of Maju Holdings since 1993.

Dato’ Abu Talib is the Deputy Chairman of Ipmuda Berhad and also a director of Mycron Steel Berhad. He is also a director of various other private limited companies.

 

Pheng Chin Huat, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr Pheng was appointed as the Group’s Non-Executive Director in 2008.

He is responsible for downstream product development, marketing of Perwaja’s products, and assisting in formulating the Group’s strategy. He also sits on the board of various other private limited companies.

Mr Pheng holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from University of Central Oklahoma.

 

Pheng Chin Shiun, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr Pheng was appointed as the Non-Executive Director of Perwaja in 2008.

He is responsible for formulating the Group’s downstream product development strategy of Perwaja Steel. He was appointed as an Alternate Director to Hong Cheng Guat on the Board of Kinsteel, and is currently the Managing Director of PCS Vision Sdn Bhd.

Mr Pheng graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from University of Malaya.

Dato’ Mohamed Fuad bin Yon, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Dato’ Mohamed Fuad was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Group in 2008.

A demographer by profession having qualified from University College Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, Dato’ Mohamed Fuad managed companies involved in manufacturing, management and financial consultancies, property development and construction, prior to joining Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd.

He is currently a director of Maju Holdings, a director of Ipmuda Berhad and Bright Focus Berhad, as well as a director of various other private limited companies.

 

Datuk Lim Chaing Cheah, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Datuk Lim Chaing Cheah was appointed as our Non-Executive Director in June 2008 and is a representative of Maju on the Board of Perwaja.

Prior to taking up various directorships in public and private companies, Datuk Lim was a Partner at Lew and Company. Besides Perwaja Holdings Berhad, Datuk Lim has served on the Board of several companies, including Kanzen Berhad, Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd and Perwaja Steel Sdn Bhd.

Datuk Lim’s professional qualifications include a fellowship in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), full membership in the British Institute of Management, chartered accountancy from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and membership of the Corporate Finance Faculty of the ICAEW.

 

Dato’ Md Sharif bin Shamsuddin, Independent Non-Executive Director

Dato’ Md Sharif bin Shamsuddin was appointed as Perwaja’s Independent Non-Executive Director in 2008.

Dato’ Md Sharif brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the public sector. He also sits on the board of several other private limited companies in Malaysia.

Dato’ Md Sharif holds a degree in Anthropolgy and Sociology (Honours) from the University of Malaya, a diploma in Public Administration and a diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom.

Dato’ Siew Mun Chuang, Independent Non-Executive Director

Dato’ Siew Mun Chuang, a Malaysian was appointed as Perwaja’s Independent Non-Executive Director in June 2008.

He last held the position of a Non-Executive Director in TT Resources Bhd until his retirement in 2002 and is currently the Managing Director of the oriental group of restaurants, which he started after retirement.

He is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ipmuda Berhad and Bright Focus Berhad.

 

Shamsudin @ Samad bin Kassim, Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr Shamsudin was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Group in 2008.

Mr Shamsudin possesses more than 30 years of experience in Government service and last held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Small and Medium Industry Development Corporation prior to retirement in 2001. He is the Chairman of Boon Koon Group Berhad and also sits on the Board of various listed and private limited companies such as, Century Logistics Holdings Berhad, Ingress Corporation Berhad and Kinsteel Bhd.

He graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Economics degree from University Malaya and completed his Masters degree in Public and International Affairs (MPIA) from University of Pittsburgh, United States of America in 1979.
