Bursa: DISPUTE WITH PETRONAS
Further to our previous announcements made on 13 May 2009 and 15 May 2009, the Board of Perwaja wishes to announce that Perwaja has entered an appearance to the suit filed by Petronas and Perwaja’s lawyers are attending to defend the suit and they have advised that Perwaja should not make any statements on the merits of the dispute as it is now pending in Court.
However, Perwaja, on 19 May 2009, without prejudice and without any admission of liability as to the allegations in the statement of claim in the suit, had made a payment of RM40,261,122.12 to Petronas. This sum is in addition to the earlier payments made in March and April 2009, before service of the suit, amounting to RM45,534,835.18.
However, Perwaja wishes to reiterate that the Company is open to an amicable resolution of the present dispute.
